BCWA is a self-help support group, whereby a volunteer or a breast cancer survivor uses her experience to help another woman (patient) recover from breast cancer. Its members comprise breast cancer survivors, family members of breast cancer patients, related professionals and interested persons. Their objectives are to provide:
Psychosocial support to breast cancer patients before, during and after treatment.
Assistance in procuring non-medical physical aids for breast cancer patients.
Public education in breast self examination.
Their hotline is open from Mon-Fri at 10am – 4.30pm.

Support and care for patients
The Cancerlink Foundation provides care and support to cancer patients. One of its projects include the home-stay programme, with based in Petaling Jaya which provides free lodging for cancer patients and their family members, food, and transport to the hospital for treatment. Counselling is available and entry is determined through hospital references.

Assistance – physical aid, medical or financial
Hospis Malaysia provides free palliative care services to those living in Klang Valley, meeting the needs of people with life-threatening illnesses, their loved ones, and caregivers. It also provides training to health professionals and raising public awareness on palliative care.
They have a provision to loan out medical equipments and patient-aids, such as oxygen cylinders and concentrators, beds, syringe drivers, commodes, walking aids and others to patients without charge. They also provide assistance to run errands and transportation, as well as bereavement support service to relatives of patients.
In the event of an emergency, patients who are registered for Palliative Homecare can have access to a team of designated medical staff who will be available 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.

The NCR was established to integrate the various regional registries and other data sources for nationwide cancer registration in Malaysia. Their objectives are to:
Determine the disease burden attributable to cancer by quantifying the magnitude of cancer morbidity and mortality, and its geographic and temporal trends in Malaysia.
Identify subgroups in the population at high risk of cancer to whom cancer prevention effort should be targeted.
