THE CLIMB WITH PRIDE-ACONCAGUA 2007 TEAM MEMBERS TAKE OFF AMIDST LOFTY SPIRITS!

Team members of the Climb with PRIDE-Aconcagua 2007 expedition depart for Argentina today to attempt the challenging climb to Mount Aconcagua (6,959 m), which is the highest mountain in the world outside of Asia. The 26-day expedition is organized by PRIDE (Pink Ribbon Deeds) Foundation and led by breast cancer survivor, Rene'e Aziz Ahmad.
Through this expedition, PRIDE hopes to spread the message of hope and inspiration to all breast cancer survivors and sufferers, that there is life after breast cancer. In addition, PRIDE aims to enhance community awareness and support for breast cancer causes through the publicity generated from the climb.;
"The main objective of the expedition is to inspire breast cancer patients and survivors to live life to the fullest by staying positive and motivated. We would also like to emphasize the importance of support from family and friends on the road to recovery," explained Datin Azrene Abdullah, Chairman of PRIDE at the Flag Off ceremony held at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
The Flag Off was attended by family members, friends and supporters of the climbers, as well as representatives from the sponsors and media who gathered in a united and enthusiastic effort to bid a warm farewell to the team members of the expedition. Team members of the Climb with PRIDE-Aconcagua expedition were presented with an enormous "Best Wishes" card measuring 8ft x 6ft. The card contained many well wishes from family members, friends and supporters of the climb.
"I wish all the climbers the very best, and hope that they will reach their goals and achieve even greater heights in their lives," said Datin Azrene.
The team members - Rene'e, Khairul Ariffin Ibrahim, Shereen bte Effendy Lee, Captain Zabil Ihram bin Zainol, Stephanie Chok bte Chok Kui Eng and Harun Rahman - have been training hard since last September in preparation for the climb.
"Preparing for the expedition has definitely given me a positive focus in my life. I have been able to concentrate my energy, both mental and physical, for a meaningful purpose," said an evidently excited Rene'e.
"I feel that this is a fantastic opportunity for me to help promote breast cancer awareness and encourage other survivors to take on new challenges," she added.
The Climb with PRIDE-Aconcagua 2007 is an expression of finding strength through adversity, as well as a dedication to all mothers, sisters, wives and friends with cancer.The expedition will be filmed by team member Harun Rahman for Astro, a film maker noted for his documentaries on wildlife and adventure, and be will showcased as a documentary on Astro.
Eau Claire is the main sponsor of the Climb with PRIDE-Aconcagua 2007, and Astro is the official broadcaster. The climb is also made possible by PLUS Expressway Bhd, Telekom Malaysia Bhd, Powerbar, CoreZone and Air Asia, as well as Las Lenas, an Argentinean resort.
