CLIMB WITH PRIDE-ACONCAGUA 2007Updates from the team in Argentina Making headlines in Argentina The team members were back in Mendoza since yesterday, and they have been busy catching with each other and some rest. On 4 February, they will be flying off to Buenos Aires. Today, Rene’e did a press interview over the phone with a major newspaper in Mendoza. She was asked her experience at the expedition, and the cause she is championing. All the usual questions for Rene’e, who has been fielding hundreds of queries from the media since the launch of Climb with PRIDE-Aconcagua last November! Speaking of the media, it’s also worth mentioning that on January 16 (the day after the team arrived in Mendoza after their long flight from Malaysia with some of them still probably jetlagged!) they were part of a press conference organized by Las Lenas’ appointed PR agency, Mauro & Estomba. It was an effort to stir up local interest on the Climb with PRIDE-Aconcagua expedition as well as to create breast cancer awareness in the community. A representative from Mauro & Estomba, Leila, sent us some news clippings over a week ago, so we thought we would post a handful of them here to show how much support and media interest the team had enjoyed in Argentina, even though most of us can’t read Spanish! Rene’e even had a TV interview, with the help of a translator, of course. According to Sofia from Las Lenas in her e-mail to PRIDE, “everything worked as planned there, the press conference was a success and the expedition is receiving a lot of [media] exposure here.” Climb with PRIDE-Aconcagua and breast cancer awareness made the headlines in Argentina! Well, sort of. So, special thanks to Paola Estomba, Veronica Posse, Sofia Madero, and those involved from Las Lenas and Mauro & Estomba for all their help in organizing this press event.
